Personalized Marketing Platform in China & Overseas
There have been big changes in recent years. Popularity of mobile devices and web 2.0,arrival of post-PC era, cloud-based applications and social platforms, etc., have revolutionarily changed our daily lives. The rise of cross-border e-commerce in China has induced an international changes in trading on digital platforms. Consumers' behaviour have changed dramatically. Organizations' business strategies are forced to adjust to these rapid changes. These result in disruptive changes in the global value chain and the overall ecosystem of business. Strategic changes are observed at Government level capturing the opportunities in economic growth. China's One Belt One Road and new import hubs for cross-border e-commerce, etc., are typical examples which facilitate the growth of economy in this series of technology-driven revolutions.
Regardless of these disruptive changes in the globalization era, business sustainability remains as a challenge to every organization. As marketers, we have to stay in the forefront of the market, and build capacity both for ourselves as well as for our organizations. This is the core mission of the Institute of Certified Marketers (icm.hk). We have prepared a series of activities to facilitate learning and growth of our members.
Social networks are one of the important elements in digital marketing. The Institute of Certified Marketers and the Department of Management and Marketing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University have organized this seminar, and have invited expert speakers from 2 of the most popular social network platforms in China and in the world - WeChat and Facebook. They will introduce to us how social networks can help us grow our business, build our brands, and build customer loyalty as well as customer intimacy.

It is our common experience to see people looking down on their smartphones in MTR, taking snapshots of dishes before eating in restaurants, taking selfies on the street, etc. These pictures appear every day among our friends and connections on social networks, and become part of the daily lives of everyone of us, and shaping our daily behaviors. Social networks has facilitated all these changes. Social networks also become an important strategy of digital marketing in our businesses.
In Hong Kong, we experience the evolvement of Facebook and growth into our daily lives. With over 1.44 billion people on Facebook checking their News Feed an average of 14x per day, Facebook affects our behaviors dramatically and also provides a unique opportunity for businesses to drive positive business results. With the sophisticated suite of targeting products, Facebook enables brands and marketers reach more of the right people around the whole world, drive actions and get them down to the funnel with entire solution as well as different creative. In China, even though WeChat became available only not too long ago, it overtakes 'weibo' and becomes the social media giant of China, resulting in revolutionary and disruptive changes in the China business eco-system. Today, WeChat is an important channel for China business, and becomes a must-have business tool for the China market.
As professional marketers, we need to learn how to utilize these social networks and how to manipulate the necessary tools to achieve our business objectives.
